Is there a flaw in the way New Jersey is currently taxing property?
It almost seems impossible that no one has ever questioned the numbers when trying to explain why investors would avoid an area with easy access to global markets.
At CSE, we believe the issue resides within the structure of the current property tax system. According to the information listed by the State, the ratio of assessments to "true value" is about 120:100, which appears on the high end of the standard.
A simple change to the property tax system emphasizing land value will change these anomalies for the betterment of Camden.
